A HOUSE WITH NO MIRRORS - A SHORT STORY

TRIGGER WARNING : THE FOLLOWING STORY IS ABOUT A SHORT EXPERINCE OF MAN GOING THROUGH A MENTAL BREAKDOWN.

Was he like that since his birth? No!
There was no medical history of Adam Wills suffering from Eisotrophobia.
A phobia which makes one afraid of mirrors.

He clenched his fists and bashed them upon every mirror he saw in his little one room apartment. All he knew at that moment was that the reflection he saw in those mirrors were something he hated, something people would like to spit upon. A unlovable face that invited disgrace. A reflection that made him believe that everyone who called him a "chewed up toothpick" was right. It was because of his lean body and his messed up weed like blonde hair. Also, the acne breakout that boosted his inferiority complex. He finally bought something they were trying to sell him from the very first day when all the sophomores got ragged and humiliated.

He remembered people saying things like, "Even a parent won't love somebody with a face like that". That's a minute part of what he used to hear on a regular basis. And now, he believed in all that crap. A boy who used to dream of a good college life was now trying his best to isolate himself from people including his own reflection

And so like Mike Tyson he smashed furiously at his opponents. Every single mirror turned into innumerable pieces that weren't fixable. Irregular shapes of glass rested all over his house. It was 3 a.m. and he wasn't asleep. He was eighteen and so what society expected from him now, was not to whine about his troubles but to become a responsible and mature person. He was no longer with his family as college was far away from his hometown. Neither was he close to his mother who used to tell him that he looked perfect even when at times he dressed up like a fancy dress competition participant

Later, the water fused with the blood dripping from his fists. Tears gushed out of his swelled eyes. He pulled his hair and screamed in agony. Hot shower stopped hurting his skin as even with all this chaos, he at peace because at least in this moment he was away from his ugly reflection. In pain, away from the people who body shamed. Under his the steamy water, he no longer felt something that would hurt him mentally.
